OPEN CALL 2025

Apply to be part of a five-person exhibition this November 2025, a collaborative project between Yellow Cat Gallery and Gallery Onetwentyeight, located in New York City’s Lower East Side. The show will run for three weeks during a prime season for gallery exhibitions, as the city’s art world gears up for the winter holidays. The theme of the show will be shaped in response to the works submitted through this open call.

Gallery Onetwentyeight was founded in 1986 by artist Kazuko Miyamoto and is recognized as the longest continually operating gallery on the Lower East Side. It has maintained its identity as an independent, artist-run space that has exhibited both emerging and established artists from NYC, the U.S., and abroad. As the surrounding neighborhood evolved into a dense network of contemporary galleries, Onetwentyeight remained a constant—quietly influential and historically significant.

Yellow Cat Gallery, founded in 2021 by Dasha Bazanova and Dave Alexander, curates exhibitions that highlight strong, original voices. Focused on experimental and thought-provoking work, Yellow Cat has produced shows at SPRING/BREAK Art Show and the Raynham Hall Museum. This joint exhibition offers artists a chance to present work in a gallery with legacy and integrity, while contributing to an evolving conversation in one of NYC’s most dynamic art communities.
